4020 Diesel engine difference

What is the difference between the early casting number block r40890 and the newer r40930 will my cylinder head bolt up to this new block or no and will the newer style block fit into tractor.
Had a friend give me one I have an early model 4020 with pencil style injectors in head.

The early blocks used a smaller pilot hole for the injection pump mount. When JD switched to the short CB injection pump the block hole was made larger so the early pump won't fit right. Then the JDB pump was used to replace the CB, and the JDB won't fit the early blocks either.

So what type of injector pump will fit in that block number r40930 I have a standyne pump from the early block r40890 engine.

Early blocks with small hole need the DB pumps, they center by using the brass 1.062 OD brass tube in the pump housing. If the block has the larger pump hole it needs the JDB pump with the HOUSING pilot 1.810, same size as the morphedite CB pump.
