4020 diesel

I have a 4020 diesel and it?s hard to set the idle and if you
throttle it up to 1000 rpm it stays there about a minute and
then it it runs up to 1500 / 1800 rpms and then back to idle or
it quits . I went through the pump maybe I missed something
any ideas?

Still sounds like the pump has governor issues..

You did confirm supply side to pump is OK, and made sure the return line is open back to tank? Problems on either side will cause the same trouble too..

I am haveing trouble with return line sealing on top 3 of the injectors it?s a 64 with big injectors the line is clear . I haven?t had the tractor that long maybe the fuel filter is the cause ?

I used copper or aluminum washers on a 3010 injector leak off that would not seal with steel washers.

Your injector pump needs an overhaul . The plastic Governer weight retainer ring is crumbling and getting INTO the Governer LINKAGE .
