4020 front end loader hydraulic question

Some years back I acquired this old 4020. One of the hydraulic lines for the front end lift/loader is connected to the hydraulic filter cover, which requires the line to run under the belly of the tractor ( don't know if it's a return line or not). Whichever it is, it seems to be a bad location for twice now I've hung the line on an obstruction. The last incident, a week ago trying to move tree limbs fallen in a recent ice storm, resulted in damage to the filter cover/connection such that the filter cover and connector both will have to be replaced. If anyone knows a better hydraulic connection location I'd like make a change now.

You could route hyd control valve return oil to rockshaft return oil line routing hose oner top of trans case instead of under trans case.

I'm finally getting around to finishing this project and (I think) have one last question. I should've marked the relative positions of the 4 lines (2 lift and 2 curl lines) to the 4 connections on the valve box. Not sure but I think the lift lines were connected to the bottom two connections on the box. BTW, it's a JD 148 loader.

Life/boom hoses should be connected to the longest spool on the valve body due to boom control spool has a spring loaded detent for float position on opposite end of spool from the handle
