Just bought one over the phone going to pick it up later in the week . I was told that there was not many made . This one looks rough by the pictures but has staight tin and like new tires .It is suppose to run great has been on the farm all its life. Do you think a collector might want it for there collection?

There were 836 LP side counsels. If it happens to be a HI Crop there were only three, a powershift would help and HFWA would make you pretty popular. The gases and LPs just dont have as much appeal as diesels and but you might find someone that wants one .

Any options such as PS ?
There is some difference in opinion of how many LP consoles were built.
In any case mighty few exist.

I had a 4020 LP and later a 4010 Diesel. Agree on the convenience and the LP was a bear to start; very finiky. Had to have everything just right and when the engine temp changed, so did the setup. Trying to fill off a nurse tank at 100F was a real pain and it seemed that you might as well drag the nurse behind you as every hour or so of hard work it wanted a refill. And then there was the heat from the engine....sweat your shorts off behind that sucker. Diesel was much cooler running.

Diesel was night and day and fuel was convenient.

My opinion is to dump the sucker as soon as you get a chance. On price I paid $5k and found out after I got it home that the water coming out of those little holes on the side of the block meant engine overhaul.....was my first JD tractor. So the purchase price should have been more like $3k.

My 2c,

Mark

At 195-210% normal engine operating temperature I can't see how one type 4020 fueled engine will exhibit any more heat than the other. This is ruling out any high pressure internal hyd leaks that can create a lot of heat.
