4020 original price

(quoted from post at 07:20:43 03/08/12) Here's a site that can answer some of your questions and you can also review the Nebraska tests on this and other JD Tractors.
Tractor Data

The prices listed on Tractordata are MSRP. I can guarantee you no new 4020's sold for MSRP anywhere close to where I lived in N Texas

If I am not mistaken, my Dad bought a new 4020 in 1969 for $6900.00 It had power shift, wide front, differentil lock, roll-gurd, one remote and wheel and front end weights.

Dads cost 6000 new.It was a syncro and was 2 years old.It was pretty common to see 4020 tractors that were two or three years old on dealer lots back then. You could hardly give a powershift away back then, now there a hot item.

thanks for all the replies I was just wondering because I wanted to know how new price compared to what I have invested in my 4020

We get no deals up here in Vt. , NH. or Me The JD dealers alway stick it to the farmer here. But now farmers are starting to buy in Canada. We have lost several JD dealership in the last 5 years.

My grandpa bought a 4020 new in 1964 with dual remotes, front and rear weights, and a F145H 5-16" plow for around 65-6800 according to my dad.

New 4020's must have sold for a lot more above the Mason-Dixon line than below it.

It could be because of the powershift on that one.

We actually usually traded but $7000 would buy one in the 60s.In 1969 they put put a basic build sheet with all options and list price which I remember my first side counsel with my first JD cab WO/air was $10,684 list.I assume there was 20% markup but dont know.We traded many tractors for around $1 an hour or less. Now like every thing else it 10 times that.
