does anyone know if the top shaft out of a old style 3020 would fit a late 4020, or any of the gears and syncronizers, and where is the best place to get the John Deere side name plate and screens for a 4020 FOR A 4020

Part # for 3020 top shaft is R33512 & for late model 4020 is R33384 so no the shafts won't interchange. Drum part # R31026 are identical But pinion part # R41218 fits only 4020.

You can check what part fits each model by performing part # searches on JD parts site.

K&K Antique Tractors of Shelbyville, IN has the side name plates for the hood and other repro parts. They have a web site: KKantiquetractors.com

Dont quote me but I believe the only shaft that will work would be a 4020 and possibly a 4000 shaft. Even a 4010 or a 4320 are different. I make parts for the transmissions of these tractors for pulling tractors and I have to make the new top shafts different for 4010, 4020 and 4320. I may have an original for a 4020

I am pretty sure the top shaft is different. You can buy the emblems and side screens from Steiner,A&I Most things at JD are from same supplier.I prefer the emblems with the correct raised letters and I think most are not made in the USA.I get at least one call a month looking for sheet metal and parts that are original paint.
