4020 wide front

There's been a lot of 'em done, so it must not be too difficult, though I have no personal experience. Tim S said a few posts ago that he had changed one out; if he doesn't post to this thread, give him a shout.

I know there is a special adapter It seems like the piece was made by a company called Beem although Tim will know exactly.Your old wide front if useable will sell easily for $700 on up.I beleive Abilene Machine sells the whole deal.Just my thoughts but I like the 8 bolt fronts for loader and they werent on all 30 series but on several 40 series and probably wouldnt cost much more. This will eliminate the not fun experience of breaking a spindle. The original front even used carefully its not if it will break but when.

I got my stuff from Anderson Tractor Supply in Bluffton Ohio Ph #419-358-8846,good people to deal with, they take a good 4430 front end out of the yard and some one makes a "very" nice adapter plate made out of 1" stock that joins the 4430 front end to the 4020, slick and easy..

Yes Larry this is a good fix, I have never seen a 4430 style front end break, and I have seen them abused lots of times to the max.....

My wide front is very useable, but the spindles have been welded ever since I have had it. I'm going to put a 148 loader on the tractor and wanted to beef it up. How much do the 30 wide fronts sell for?

It seems that we had about $1,000 in the set-up, you can just buy the adaptor plat if you have a 4430 front axle closer. We have a 1971 4020 with a 158 loader, this change over elimanated the spindle problem, looks like it belongs under it too.

My neighbor had a 3020 with a 30 wide front,he bought it that way and then sold it. I thought it looked better than the factory ones.

I put one on my 3010 gas and it was not that difficult. It had a narrow front and with a loader I was having problems all the time. I bought the front end and adapter plate together and it just bolts on. This is a good fix and it looks good too. Good Luck! Jim.
