4030 injector pump

Had the injector pump rebuilt for my 4030. It has the roosa master pump. Trouble I'm having is rolling the shaft seal on the drive shaft when installing the pump. Rolled 2 of them. Rebuilder machined a taper in the pump bushing to aid re-installation. Thats my problem as when the seal leaves the compressor it pops open and turns. There is no room to massage the seal in as its to close to the block, cant see in the front of the pump. So I want to remove the shaft from the drive gear, install it in the pump on the bench were I can see it go in. Trouble is how can I get the shaft taper broken loose from the gear. No room to strike with hammer without removing radiator or front cover. Any ideas?

GREASE seal and tube. When it gets to where compressor starts seal
go around it with oring pick gently. Your old ladies compact mirror
slid under there will let you see what you're doing. Do not push
the pick against the seal. Just go around it inside the tube.

Been studying it. Guess I'll give it one more go. Anyone need a roosa master removed I'm your man. Replacing them not so good.

Use SLICK lube on both the seal and tube. I don't use the seal compressor, just my fingers. Trick to know if rear seal is rolled, after pump is over the shaft pump will slide back and forth very easily if seal is in OK. If seal is rolled, pump will slide VERY HARD. Well lubed tube and seal makes pump slide on easily. The original seal compressor does not work on JDB type pump housings..

Are you referring to the "special tool" I read about periodically for installing the umbrella shaft seal?
