404 wiring diagram

(quoted from post at 20:21:07 04/15/20) Any of y'all know where I can find a wiring diagram for a 404 with an alternator

Bass

AFAIK, alternators were never used on that tractor model from the factory, so I don't know how vet is going to find that non-existent diagram on his non-existent 'puter".

CNG has some factory diagrams on their site, including for the 404.

Obviously, they won't include the alternator, which a P.O. must have swapped the generator out for.

In what area are you having problems, the factory diagram will cover everything but the alternator, and if you can post back with what alternator is has and how they wired it in likely someone can help you. Internal or external voltage regulator? Photos?

On 404 diagram that Wore Out links to, to convert to common Delco 10SI internal regulated alternator:

Remove generator and regulator , Connector plug could have wire ends taped or plug and wires removed.

If 1 wire Delco the output of alternator would connect to Red BAT wire from regulator. If Amp Tellulite is an "idiot light" it will not indicate with this configuration.

If 3 wire Delco, Red BAT to output of alternator, #2 loop down to alternator output, and Light Blue wire from Amp Tellulite would connect to #1 alternator. (This is assuming ?Amp Tellulite? is an indicator lamp and not an ammeter.

Diagram shows it as a 12 volt negative ground system

Well i may have lost anyway of sharing when the old computer went POOF but i still have the old fashioned BOOK . But have no way of posting or just how to do so . Now as for a change from a gen to a alt. depends on just who did it or planning on doing it . I have my ways and others have there way , is mine right ?? but it works for me as i build a new harness all the way .
