4050 Alternator

I have a 4050 that the alternator is draining the batteries. This alternator has the regulator mounted on the outside of the alternator. If I just replace the regulator is there a probability it will cure my problem?

The drain may be through the regulator but,or may be through a diode inside alternator. The price of the regulator may go along way on an exchange alternator??.

Those Nippodenso alternators are good but according to JD prices JD is proud of them.

If it was my tractor I'd take alt. to a repair shop if one is available. I'm lucky as a good alt./starter repair shop is about 3 miles from my home.

First, try pulling the wiring harness plug out of the regulator and see if it still goes dead. If it does, likely there is a diode or other issue in the alternator, outside of the regulator.

In agreement, $55 for a rebuilt delco with internal regulator before core charges and this funky alternator might pass for a core.
