4055 Adhesive Removal Issue - Pls Help

I am removing the adhesive from the cab of a 4055. A wire brush just smears it around and then it starts to smell hot.

I have tried WD-40, Kano Penetrating Oil, Brake Cleaner, and Goo Gone from my wife's arsenal of stain cleaners. The Goo Gone seems to work the best so far. Kano and WD-40 did provide some results. I have it soaking with Goo Gone now.

Are there any other suggestions?

Acetone, white gas (Naptha), Methyl Alcohol. The Acetone may take the paint off too, use on a dampened rag.HTH

I use a wire brush on a die grinder. Once it's mostly clean I use a 2" scotch Brite wheel to polish it up. To glue the new in I use armor flex insulation glue.

there is a ZEP product called Big Orange--citrus based solvent that will BY FAR outperform any of the above--you can get ii in aerosol, of brush on -- I have used this on literally hundreds of large decal removal projects on stainless steel tankers for many years--brush it on and it will emulsify the adhesive--remove sludge with a putty knife or squeegee--rinse with clean water--works great on greasy laundry spots also--use sparingly on laundry--used this stuff for years--it works great

I use a nylong brush attachment on my angle grinder. Takes off the adhesive but not the paint from the metal. The whole cab only takes a few minutes to do.
