Happy New year everybody, I have a my 40B its a manual shuttle ,while driving it the other day the tractor just stopped moving I was in high gear at
the time it would move a couple more times but only for a few feet.I tried every gear but no movement.
The first thing I thought of was the clutch I took the inspection plate off and everything seemed to be in order plus the PTO does work.
So then I took off the gear shift assembly everything seemed to be in order no broken pieces there.
I then took off the three point housing off no damage found but I did find that the coupling between the rear driveshaft of the transmission and the
pinion of the differential was allowed to move forward to the point it would uncouple from the rear driveshaft I removed the cotter pin in the coupling and
inside the coupling a spring fell out it was broken so I figured that was the cause ,but in the parts breakdown there is no mention of a spring.
If anyone has any knowledge of this would appreciate the info.
