41 b governor shaft

My 41 b I am restoring the gov. shaft is destroyed I had another one I thought was the same but it is longer.It must be from later or earlier model I think the part no.is b277r do any of the other tractors like the A have same where could i find what i need. Looked on ebay found one for A that looked the same whole assembly I need some help at a stand still right now any suggestions appreciated might could get one made but might be expensive.Where could I look thanks.

I doubt one from an A will work in there, but there is not anything special to one, so a good machine shop should be able to cook one up from shafting in house already. Couple of keys cut in it so I don't think it will cost too much at all. Bring what is left of the one you got and see if you can get a ball park figure before even buying new would be the route I'd go to start with. If you need a new fan drive gear then that's the pricey part and whole good used shaft might be cheaper in the long run. There is also the possibility that the one you have can be shortened for next to nothing at the machine shop, some have long drive lugs for the mag and some had short lugs - could this be the problem?

The original shaft is 8-3/8 the extra is 9-1/2 inches.All gears and parts look usable.Thanks for input.Might even be able to have org. shaft built up and repaired if needed.There is a will just looking for a way.
