Took a break for a bit when life got busy. . . I jumped into restoring a 1978 Toyota FJ40. . . then restored a couple pinball machines. . . Then renovated a building I moved my business to. . . then made the logical turn back to working on some tractor stuff.Dr. Dave, I may have to take you up on the tachometer if no one else comes through. BTW, it’s good to see you on here again. I’m anxiously awaiting photos/documentation from your next restoration.
Make sure that cable is actually good, it could be turning with engine but partially broken. You can take it out easily. You can also use cable on electric drill to check tach. I replaced on on 430 quite a few years ago. I wasn't worried about originality and found one on e bay I think that worked.Took a break for a bit when life got busy. . . I've been tackling a 1960 JD 430 Standard restoration. Trying something a bit different this time by documenting the work with videos vs. just pictures. Posted some stuff on YouTube if you are interested. Not sure if I'm allowed to post a couple links here but will try anyway.

There are some others. . . I'm sure you can find them if you are interested.
I’m working on my 57 420 and have been watching some of your videos on YouTube. You are making my life a lot easier. I recently resurrected a Bally Harlem Globetrotters pinball machine that has been in my wife’s family for 45 years. My grandkids are the 4th generation to play this machine. Thanks a ton for the awesome videos as I’m fixing my 10 year parked 420 that broke the clutch cam. Of course I figured I might as well rebuild the engine while I have it split. Then there’s the leaking pump, leaking rock shaft, and other various needs. While I’m here I might as well ask if you have an extra clutch cam for a 420 in your parts that you might part with?Took a break for a bit when life got busy. . . I don't want to take over @sluhbmet 's thread, but thanks for the feedback on the videos. I have more to edit and post -- it just takes a lot of time to do.I’m working on my 57 420 and have been watching some of your videos on YouTube. You are making my life a lot easier.
