4200 Utility Lift (corrected)

Changed oil, filter and cleaned the screen on the 4200 utility, but 3 pt will not raise. Bucket works fine. Is there something else I can check or do other than take it to the shop. Thanks. Harley

There is a knob under the seat that controls the speed and will lock it, but I have tried turning it in different directions with no luck. Harley

Buickanddeere, I am not sure, but will take a look at it and also, check the operator's manual. I did check to see if the up and down leaver was connected and it appears to be moving where it goes into the housing. Thanks again for the suggestion. Harley

All the knob under the seat does is control rate of drop or if screwed all the way in will lock rockshaft up as you described. It has "zero" to do with the raising function.

From viewing JDparts.com it appears the RS control valve is non-repairable as it comes only complete with no repair parts. Part # is LVA15586 CONTROL VALVE 1 ROCKSHAFT.

There's also a what appears to be a relief valve in the RS piston head that has a spring loaded ball that could be leaking but without the aid of a tech manual I don't know exactly how this hyd system is supposed to operate.

There is a diagnostic port on this valve housing
LVU12895 COVER 1
R77175 COVER 1 DIAGNOSTIC PORT
AM124968 PORT PLATE 1 (W/O RELIEF VALVE)
AM124971 PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE 1

Thanks Tx Jim for the info. That sounds to complicated for a non-mechanic like me. Guess it is off to the repair shop. Harley

I had a 4200 do that. The dealer installed a new loader valve and a new 3pt valve ($850) and it still done it. Turns out it was a $0.10 o-ring had failed somewhere and my valves were fine. They didn"t refund my money for their mistake either.

If a JD dealer did that to me & my tractor the JD area service manager that receives a check from Mother Deere and I would be on a first name basis.

Also the owner of the dealership would know me "VERY WELL"
