4230 fixer upper

2-3 years ago bought this much neglected non running tractor for a thousand bucks.Tractor was a mess..broken windows,broken door frame,broken cab mounting brackets,quad range shift console completely missing,just two shift handles coming out of the floor to name just a few issues.Have been working on it off and on since.Last year put a low hour engine into it from a 7720 combine,cab mounts,new under cab and engine compartment hoses,rebuilt broken seat frame,repaired numerous oil leaks,put good used tires on it etc.Last couple months repaired cab rust,new a/c system,cab wiring/switches, new 50 series headliner and interior.Working on hood right now, had to replace as old hood was too rusted out.

I didn't know 4230 had a turbo.

4230's had a non turbo 404 from the factory.The 404 in this tractor threw the number connecting rod,cracked the oil pan then the engine locked up and sheared the flywheel bolts.It was running a manure pump when the engine let go.I swapped a 170 hp 466T from an early eighties 7720 combine engine into it.

1973 LT,355 sb,700r4 auto and a built 10 bolt with 3.73's.Car has been completely gone thru/restored.Fun to drive!

A little more progress.Need to insulate a/c lines above cab,wire cab roof warning lights,install roof.

Made more progress.Still need to insulate a/c lines above cab,wire warning lights in the outer roof and install.Probably paint front axle at some point.

My 4230 has a M&W turbo on it. If you stuck a 4430 engine in, why not buy a 4430 hood? I thought that was the only difference. Am I wrong?

I put a 466T from a combine into the tractor.Modified hood to relocate exhaust opening.

Need to paint the axle and look for a running deer emblem.Wheels/tires next to barn will replace the front runners on it now so tractor will sit level/slightly higher in front.

Rattle canned rear wheels and painted front axle.
