4230 gauge cluster

4 post 4230. Tachometer side works fine. Left side gauge cluster is original, old and half don't work. Could be sending units could be gauges, I'll be honest I'm tired of messing with it trying to keep them working.

Here is the question:

Do I spend a bunch of time/money/effort trying to maintain the gauges in working order OR has anyone found a solution using aftermarket gauges?

This is not some kind of museum. I don't care if it's original but I'm not in the cobbled together camp either. I take pride in my work and my standards are typically a clean looking install where possible.

Can I send it to someone who can repair it beyond my capability?

Wish I could purchase one brand new but let's assume it's shot for talking purposes. I assume I can't be the only person who's gauges have bit the dust.

What's my best course of action? Thanks guys.

Getting the gauges working again isn't rocket surgery, and probably not terribly expensive.

You'll need to spend some $$$ for an original factory service manual with troubleshooting info and fold-out color-coded wiring diagrams.

Sounds like you may have dirty connections. Pull apart the plug(s) from the instrument panel and bulkhead connector at the firewall and senders and clean them thoroughly. Check your
fuses. As has been said, - knowledge of the circuits is important to the diagnosis and a tech manual will be of great help. Break out your trusty multimeter. You may find the problem
without spending much time or money at all.
