4230 problems

Could someone please help. I put a 4430 turboed engine in a 4230 not knowing all the difference when it came time to hook up intake piping. I'm now going to try to put original water mainfold back on along with exhaust and intake manifold. Will all these bolt to the 4430 head? :?:

If your just replacing the long block and none of the other stuff then yes most of it should bolt back on. They are both 404 engines with a few differences. Manifolds will bolt onto one another and thermostat housings should be interchangeable also. Water pump and a few other things might now be.

That's the best I can help you with from what I know.

The fuel screw under the RSV governor cover would need backed out at least 1/2 turn I'd guess, might need more. Best get it on a PTO dyno and set it down to a light exhaust haze under full load.

Back in the 70's we played around with the fuel settings on a couple 4430's,,in a complete Hill Billy manor,,you could turn one down to about 85-90 HP,,and up to about 225HP by adjusting that screw Dieseltech is referring to,,this will solve the over fueling, but it will be very Doggy on low RPM performance,,It will be interesting to see how this one works out for you. A stock 4230 engine with a turbo does work out well,, the main difference is in the injection pump,,some one like Dieseltech may be able to work the Bosch pump over to make it more responsive at low end...this really shows up when you throttle back on the ends to make a turn, then throttle up to make your next pass.

Mr. Tim is there any way I could talk to you via email or over the phone. I can explain more about the situation. Thanks you for everyone's response.
