4240 cab on 4630

Working on a 77 model 4630 with quad. My
cab is rusted out and beyond repair and was
curious to know if a cab off a 82 model
4240 quad would fit without any major
modifications. I would think it wouldn't
be a big deal other than tapping into
hydraulics for the seat but my ideas never
seem to work out anyways lol! Was wanting
the hydraulic seat anyways. Thanks.

I'm with you on the linkage. I'd imagine the 46's transmission linkages are longer. I just wasn't sure on all the hydraulic lines for steering. I've already bought a cab off a 75 model 4630 but it needs a bunch of work on the roof but it's rust free and fenders are perfect. Didn't know if there were any changes in the 82 models when they were going to the 50 series the next year. But it's probably nothing that can't be worked out. I appreciate the replies

I think SGB's will interchange but due to the fact that JD does not publish complete body or frame part #s it's difficult to research.

It's been many, many yrs since I supervised R&R of SGB on a JD rowcrop tractor but I sure thought dash & steering valve/lines stayed with tractor when R&R body. I think trans linkage will be fine since both bodies in question are for QR trans.

Yes sir, the whole front clolumn stays and
from what I remember looking at a bunch of
cabs at a salvage yard im almost positive
all the hydraulic lines were always located
in the same locations on later 30 series
and all 40 series cabs. Thank y'all for
the input.

FYI, Early 40 series cabs were the old 30 series design and would split away from consul and fit directly back over you older 4630 consul. Later 40 series cab did not have this feature and were more unitized / one piece where steering and brake controls stayed with cab and was same design as used on 50 series tractors. 40 series tractors were a transition series where this cab design change occurred. The early 40 series cab would make your swap much easier and fit right on your center control consul and make your challenge pretty easy. The later series is a tighter / better cab. DW

Should work. I have seen some 20 series tractors such as 4320/45/4620 and 6030s that look factory when done right. To me the Sound Guard cab on a 4020 looked too large.I bought a very nice 4440 and knew something didn't look quite and it had a 55 series cab.Not sure why unless the original cab was damaged but it was an original paint nice tractor and owner didn't even know as He said he had had it several years but I assumed laid over.
