4255 vs. 4455

Hello, I was wondering what the difference was between a 4255 and a 4455. I looked at tractordata.com which claims they have the same engine. (4255 has 127 PTO HP and 4455 has 148 PTO HP). But, it says that the 4255 weighs 12225-15570 lbs and the 4455 weighs 14145-15275 lbs. So what is the difference(s) between a 4255 and a 4455?

Final drives are wider in the 44 series tractors for starters. Axles are bigger in diameter, too- or at least they are on the 50 series.

A review of the parts catalog on Deere's parts website will show you similarities and differences... they share a catalog, so you can easily see what is the same, and what is not.

Good luck.

Tractordata might mean they share the same block. Common with JD, then add a turbo, then a turbo and intercooler......each version can crank more hp.

Rear axles are 92 mm on a 4455 and 86 MM on 4255. Also as stated final drives are heavier on 4455 along with rear axle housings. 3 pt hitch draft links are Cat lll/N with ball center link on 4455 & Cat ll on 4255 with hook on centerlink
