At auction today. 34 foot. Sharp and original w/ electric motor. 1,000 dollars. Had the collector in me twitching but not something I need nor
could explain to the wife.

Slat type elevator on a transport gear. Made for JD by Little Giant. Too many other needs at the moment to pursue a want.

Dad had a brand new 50 ft. one back in the 70's. Picked ear corn with a 237 picker mounted on a 2520 diesel and used his Deere 214 and IH 105 silage wagons to haul. Tom

I've always wanted a 428 elevator, last elevator sold by Deere I believe,
and i don't think they sold a whole lot of them
by that time, shelled corn was going strong and ear corn was slowly going away

Yes. The uprights were a stamped sheet metal. This elevator judging by the decals was most likely made during the very late 1960's or early 1970's. The 428 is in the 1974 price book I have that a salesman would have used to quote farmers. The thing which would have made it perfect and hard to walk away from would have been if it had a drag line and down spout for grain. I'm still somber from having to let it go.

Lot's of slat type elevators sold around here during the 1970's as guys used them to put small square bales in a barn among other things. But by the 1980's new ones were seldom seen. Just part of an era I miss.

would that be the same Little Giant company of Mankato MN that built the trip hammers for blacksmith shops?

According to PC # 1301 the model 428 elevators were built '71-'76
