I need to press the clutch all the way down and only after the lever at the bottomm of the adjusting rod strikes the trans/motor housing does the clutch disengauge and allow shifting and stops the tractor. No slipping at all and strong! I"d just like the clutch to release earlier and not need to drop all the way to the bottom/striking the motor. How does one adjust this...what"s wrong with it. Thanks, Dan

Simple, or complex. It depends on thie following action.
Go to the tractor with a measuring tape, or ruler.
with your hand, push in on the clutch pedal until it changes its feel to be much harder to push. (from easy to hard) When it is at that spot, measure between the casting of the top of the trans (platform) and the spot on the pedal that touches the platform when the clutch is not being pushed. It should measure 1 to 1-1/4 inches. This is freeplay, and is necessary to keep the fingers off of the throwout bearing when the clutch is not pushed. Adjust the length of the rod connecting the pedal to the arm on the housing to make this measurement correct. If it is correct, the tractor will need to be split to repair the clutch Pressure plate (by replacing it) it may have cracks or warpage that prevents proper disengagement. Good luck, it is probable that the adjustment will do the trick. Heat the turnbuckle if it is frozen, they do get rusty. JimN

Thanks! Well, it doesn't disengauge untill its stretched/pushed all the way down. I had to remove the washer from the inside to that it would not hit the trans/housing and allow it to let go pressure so I could sit still or shift. You think this means splitting the tractor or is there an adjustment at the lower arm area?
