430 diff lock

My 430 diff lock doesn't work. Doesn't seem to matter how much I step on the pedal, one wheel or the other spins in the mud. Tried stopping before engaging and makes no difference. I don't even feel anything mechanical trying to catch inside. Anyone have one of these apart? Easy fix in an hour or wait for a rainy day?
What can I expect as far as what typically goes wrong with one of these? Thanks.

Providing it has no mechanical damage it is probably just siezed up in the linkage and needs a good cleaning and lubing to get back in order. It can be serviced by simply removing the external cover. Be mindful that there is one allen head bolt recessed in the front of the housing all the others take a 1/2 in. wrench to remove. On very rare occasions I have seen damage to the diff lock shaft such as a broken shaft but this not the norm so just take it off and look at it, it is simply a sliding collar that engages the outer end of the differential shaft where the brake disc runs. mEl
