I tore into the steering assist cylinder yesterday and found in just neeeded a good cleaning. O rings are good, spool and body is good. I reassebled and was wondering how much "throw" the control should have to activate the spool. The slot is around 1.5 to 2 inches (guessing) long, but the ball joint mechanism doesn"t move but 1/2-3/4 inch (guessing again) The grease zerk is removed due to the fact it hits the slid inside the pocket, but even with the zerk removed, the slide doesn"t move but a 1/2-3/4 of and inch. I have no leaks, as far as I can tell the pump is functioning, don"t know what pressure I am attaining. I am using trans fluid in the system.
