431 steering cylinder

I m having a hard time locating a steering cylinder or parts on my 431. Took it to shop to have it rebuilt (blew the seal) and they broke the cast plunger where the snap ring slot is. Will other models have the same plunger? Junk tractor for parts? Need help locating thanks!

Have you checked with a Massey Ferguson dealer?

yes I have. Two of them. They sent me to a hydraulic shop I called them and they told me dealer. Neither can find the plunger so I m looking for used or secret stash of parts. Someone s gotta have a parts tractor or a lead. 431 wasn t a big production but someone else has had to it dealt with something like it.

The 431 was made in Turkey, the part number for the steering cylinder is 0016884U91. Trying to find one is going to be the hard part.

While it wasn't the same part, I had what I thought was an unrepairable shuttle shift lever and a local machine shop was able to put it on a lathe, put a pin in the middle, and TIG weld it back together and it looks perfect. If your shop didn't pitch the piece they broke off, you may be able to get it welded. The machine shop I use here also does hydraulic work--you might have something similar near you.
