I HAVE A 1972 MODEL 4320 THIS SPRING IT LOST POWER AND MECHANIC TOLD ME TO KNOCK OUT SPRING AND BALL ON THE RETURN LINE ON TOP OF INJECTION PUMP, TRACTOR PICKED RIGHT UP AND FINISED PLANTING COTTON, SAID I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE PUMP REBUILT SONE. HAD SAME TRACTOR ON MODULE BUILDER AND LOST POWER AGAIN, HAD PUMP REBUILT AND CHECKED ALL SUPPY AND RETURN LINES AND ALL ARE CLEAR, NOW IT IS HARD TO START AND WHEN PULLING DISC WON"T REV UP AND DIES IN FIELD ANY THOUGHTS

If both fuel supply and return lines are open then it's possible inj pump is timed incorrectly or pump wasn't renewed correctly. Another possibility would be a weak lift pump.

Did you check the tank? We had someone put a bunch of cornstalks in an 8630 tank once. Another thought, is the cap venting?

Computer problems as well as tractor problems. The caps lock is on.
As previously stated. There is some sort of solid or moving blockage in a line or fitting.

Nick could be in the right direction too, the little chips that were passing through the return end up in the bottom of the tank, they could be plugging the outlet,,I have drained and removed the fuel sender and looked into the tank with a mirror to check,, and I have swabbed the tank with a good rag and a long rod, then fished it out with the crapp on it to clean on with out removing the tank.

(quoted from post at 19:39:55 11/25/13) It still sounds like you have blockage in the return line...

If that was true it would start normally and then as the pressure built up in the return line the engine would start smoking white/blue and slow down.
Like I ask everyone.
Is it smoking white when your cranking and it will not start?

If it is it is a timing problem.

Those pumps can be modified at the diesel place to start great cold.
Did it run good after installing the new pump.
Was it hard to start cold.
Started good hot.

weak lift pump or maybe plugged fuel filter. Fuel filter plugged on my 4010 and acted like it was running out of fuel or getting air in lines, but filter was plugging off tight with dirt or rust. reprimed it and it would run a minute or so and shut off again. Changed filters and had no more trouble.
