Should a guy be scared of buying a 12000 hour 4320 with no proof of an overhaul?

No but be ready to do an overhaul sometime in the few thousand hours depending on what you are going to do with it

Probably been O.H.d Best way to tell is try and start it at 30deg.Usually a little higher compression pistons were used.I talked to guy from Ten.that has a 4000 with 26K hours never O.H.d and He bought it new.If tractor hasn't been painted there are some signs that will tell you if head has been off.

Sometimes you can tell by looking at the exhaust manifold bolts for the amount of corrosion or lack there because almost always they had new bolts installed after the engine overhaul
