4320 Steering Lines

The steel steering lines on my 1971 4320 need to be replaced. They are expensive.

The existing steel lines are 0.29x I.D.

I would like to go to 5000 psi hydraulic hoses 0.250 I.D. I would like to use this 0.5 O.D. hose to better fit the existing routing, vs using a 3/8 I.D. hose, 5/8 O.D.

A side benefit might be reduced vibration.

Has anyone done this? I am looking for advice/experience. Would the reduced I.D. noticeably affect the steering? Thanks. Paul.

I doubt you have the space to use hoses.
The steel lines are tight against the radiator and the hood, with no space to spare.why not go to autoparts and get lengths of steel line and bend your own, alot cheaper and will fit correctly and not rub the hood or radiator

Many Local hydraulic hose shops here in mid West will make new steel lines up if not too difficult. These would be simple compared to some I have had custom bent for less than a third what company wants for them. I do allot of fuel tank steel lines and bend some myself as well. DW
