Started bailing and after only two bales it stopped auto tying. Still ties fine manually. I checked and all the springs appear to be there. It really looks like when i hit the bale size i want its not releasing the tensioner for the twine pump to run. Im new to this bailer and the manuals not been real helpful

Have you checked all the adjustments and possible linkage binding points listed in the Operator's manual diagnostics for the auto tie?

Check Item key 22 in the attached drawing from the parts catalog.

If it is broken, auto tie may not work or may work intermittently. I have had that experience with our 435 shortly after we got it. It was auto tying at the preset size just fine, then all at once didn't auto tie and I had to manually trip it. Then it worked at random sizes, or not at all. It was several bales before I happened to catch the latch shaft not moving when I moved the arm. I keep a piece of mechanic's wire through the spring pin now as a tell tale, if it should shear again.

I'll check that. If you posted a drawing
it didn't show up in your
reply.Unfortunately it will be a week
before i am back where i can look at it.
Thanks for the reply

Another possibility is mechanism that was designed to shift hyd spool valve is not causing valve to shift or spool is hanging in valve housing. If spool doesn't shift when tailgate closes after bale is ejected spool stays in twine cutting mode not twine application from home position to RH side of bale mode. Procedure of pulling rope exerts more than the designed spring pressure so the added pressure will shift the valve to tying mode.

I've given your balers problem some mort thought.

With no hay in baler engage gate lock valve. Operate scv so tension arm raises so number denoting desired bale size is displayed in window on RH side of baler. With ""engine off"" open RH door & inspect twine pump linkage to determione which springs have tension on them. Is latch unlatched(item 45) from bellcrank(item 4)? Has idler pully advanced upward towards twine pump drive belt?
