I was just wondering. By reading the archives they say that the front axles frequently broke by pull starting. Does that only apply to row-crop axles, or does it only apply to swept back front axles. or both?
 
The straight rowcrop utility axle mostly. For reasons unknown some folk throw a chain around the end of the front axle. Then give the chain a jerk instead of easing the slack out.
Same person(s) wouldn't know what a block heater was if you hit them with it.
 
They probably got pulled and jerked on by throwing a chain onto the front axle more that the gasssers. However it is not uncommon, I understand, for the front center piece on the row crop utiity or W models to have been abused in the same manner. My 420 W has had considerable repair done to the front center piece.
