44 grill screen

Anyone ever tried to repair a grill screen? I had to buy a hole roll of
hardware cloth to get the right size for a 444 i'm restoring , I have a
44 screen in my parts that has a lot of holes and tears and was
wondering if there was some way to salvage it.

I spread the strips and remove them and crimp and solder to new hardware cloth.
