(quoted from post at 17:54:58 12/18/21) plane it .030 or .040 and have the head redone, such as guides, springs, valves and seats.
How about porting ? Just gasket match of can I go more?
How about larger valves? Rocker arm ratio?
I haven't ran one of the over head valve continual engine
Have only pulled the flathead so any help/ advice would be helpful

To start with, get a head from a 44 Special or a 444 with the 277 engine, the combustion chambers are different and they flow better. Get them side by side and you will see what I mean. The 277 head is about 1/8 shorter in the height of the combustion chambers and has about 1/8 inch shorter push rods. Then take that head and take another 1/8 inch off and do your normal prep work and you are set to go. use the shorter push rods and the stock rockers will work. Going to take an extra washer or two on the head bolts and it bolts right on with the stock 260/270 gasket. will give you about 8 1/2 to 1 comp or so depending on what pistons you use.your stock 44 260 engine more than likely already had 4 inch pistons in it if it was ever gone through, so it mite be a 277 already.
