44 special wheels

I just purchased a 44 special. I was looking at pics of 44s on the internet and noticed that there are two different front wheel hubs. Does anyone know the difference of the two? Also do they make an aftermarket steering wheel for this tractor. Thanks Ed

A 44 Special would have the cast hubs, of which there were 2 styles, slightly different. The pressed steel wheel as seen on the 44 were seldom if ever on a Special.

Do you know why they used two different front cast centers? Did they change hubs in later years.

I had a late, all original, 44 Special row crop that had the same front wheels as a triple. This may be what you have.

the special has the heavy cast hubs. the straight 44 has basically what is car rims. plus the special is a longer wheel base tractor.
