2 questions.
Is slip in the final drive on these generally caused by gear or bearing wear or a combination of both?
Will final drives from any other units(420, 430) fit these or do the dowels govern?

The actual final drives are gears so there is no slip there. Where your getting your slip is in the steering clutches. I know Lavoy on here has alot of parts for the Deere crawlers so you might try looking him up for the parts. If he doesn't have the parts, with a little research, you can get material and have new steel discs cut out using an old one as a pattern. As for the fiber discs I'm really not sure where to get them as we didn't have to replace them in ours. When Dad and I redid ours about 10 years ago we had the steels laser cut for about $17 each. This was a good bit cheaper than they had been from Deere at the time they discontinued them years before.
