I have a friend he just pulled out this crawler loader out of a barn,we got it home puzted with it and got the detroit 2 banger going,looks like the governer needs a little work,not sure if it moves yet,but hyd do work we did move the bucket.tracks and roller look fine,,not sure what a fair price is to offer the guy for it?thanks steve

Scrap price is safest. A dozer can soak up 5 grand in an eye blink. Find out how the steering clutches work. The dozer was likely parked for a reason.
The 2-53 can run real sweet with the N series pistons and injectors. Use the JD oval muffler or go deaf.

Engine overhaul is one of your cheaper expenses on these. The complete kit with "N" pistons is around $500. Not hard to rebuild, just get a JD service manual and follow it to the letter.

Dad's got one with the gas engine that we rebuilt about ten years back. At that time the only paerts available for the steering clutches were the fiber discs, the steels had been discontinued long ago. We wound up getting them laser cut for about $15 each, which was about $7 less than they sold for from Deere the last time they showed one being sold. Beyond that I know Lavoy has alot of parts for them. I bought a brake band from him about 5 years or so ago and it great looking and fitting piece. Give him a holler if you find anything that you might need and I'm sure he can steer you in the right direction.
