Couple months ago, I bought a 4400 loader tractor w. cab.
I'm wanting to buy some pieces parts for it and I cant seem to find the correct table to determine the year.
My serial number is C32300 (weird,huh?)
My tractor has a 6 / 4 trans, gas engine, and the model code is D4024K.
Also, what kind of pin do you use to put the hitch on it? I have drawbars and hitches for hundred series tractors, and the pin goes up from the bottom into a tube and is attached with a pin going thru horizontally, but no such animal on the 4400.

Thanks ahead of time for any help you may have to offer.

C32300 is a 1971 give us the "unit Number off the tag or the numbers above the starter and we can give you the day built

D4024K

D40 = 4400 Utility 1965-1975
2 = Gasoline
4 = Ind. 540 rpm
K ? 6x4 manual reversing

The serial number should have one more digit. Assuming it's there, that would be a late '71 serial number. '72 starts at C327200.
If you can find the unit number, we'll be able to tell you exactly when it was made. As to the drawbar, does it have a hanger on
it? If it does, you just need the pin and a clip. Put the pin in from below, and the clip goes at the top, between the transmission
housing and the drawbar hanger. I'm not sure if a 4400 would have a 4000 or 5000 rear end... and they take different drawbar
hangers. Look up the ag model, if you can't find the hanger listed under the 4400 parts.

Here's a [u:fef62c46e7]link[/u:fef62c46e7] to the parts drawing for the drawbar and hanger. If yours has the hanger the drawbar hooks up with the pin going up from the bottom same way as on your hundred series. If yours is missing the hanger then you'll need to find one from a salvage yard or ebay or craigslist or someplace like that as they are no longer available new, but be glad of that because if they were still available new they would be a little over $900.00.

Right next to where you found the model and serial will be the UNIT number, in the format of number-letter-number-letter. This is the date of final assembly and is what Ford used to differentiate their parts changes. This system was used because the serials in the three plants were not sequential (ie. C123456 was not finished right before B123457, and right after A123455), but that the parts was changed in all three plants on that date.

If your 4400 was set up for a backhoe like my 4500 it won't have the drawbar bracket, but any bracket off of a 4000, 4600, ect will fit.
You should be able to find a good used bracket and drawbar at a salvage yard.
I have an extra bracket but no spare drawbars.

Serial number is C323000.. sorry for the typo.
As far as the hitch goes, the hanger and everything is there, but I cant see what keeps the pin from falling out unless it's different than the Hundred series pin, which I have 2 of, along with the hangers.
