4430 cab fan switch

Tried to replace blower switch on a 4430. New switch from Deere has been "improved" lol by some piggyback switch assembly which I couldn't get stuffed into place to suit me. Ordered an aftermarket from AP Air and got same switch and ended up installing an old original switch that was good. Is there a source for the old style orig switch? Liken new style switch installation with trying to repair a prolapsed cow!lol

I feel you. I went thru the same thing awhile back. New switch looked like the international space station. Couldn't figure out where all the wires should connect and I think I ended up blowing it to bits. I ended up getting an old replacement to make it work. I am not sure if there is an alternative or not.

I haven't been able to find anything better yet, and if you don't have the diagram that comes with the switch your in for a fight. I had a 4450 in here a couple years ago that the owner was color blind and decided to re-arrange the wires,, I had to buy a switch to get the diagram before I could get it right, and you need to make room for the taller switch before you start cramming it up in there, and there is not much extra room for it..

New to me, and I will try it next time...I always worried about breaking the stack switch when I was trying to get it stuffed up in there...

The fan(s) on my 4430 are starting to sound like grinding ear corn with a hammer mill. I was thinking of changing the whole darn thing with a three speed conversion from Ap air. Anyone else done that? Was it so easy a caveman could do it?

And its not even a Dubuque or Mannhiem built (sorry I couldn't resist).
I don't know why engineers insist on trying to stuff 10lbs of crap into a bag that only holds 5lb of crap.

Much like the replacement fuel gauge in a 4020,,some out side suppler gets the bid, and the people that okayed it never actually researched on how it would fit.

I replaced my blower motors a couple years ago. Thought I would save a bit and just get the motor and squirrel cages and not the entire assembly. Talke about touchy. There is very little clearance when installing all those parts back into the shroud without parts rubbing. I think I only had the cages on backwards 2 or 3 times lol. Going from the top of the cab to the ground 4 or 5 times to swap parts and get tools is quite a workout. If I had to do that over again, I would def. get the entire assemblies. Screw them down and be done with it. Overall the new fans and motors did make a big difference. Lots more air and quiet too.

Ooh Yes, that up and down climb is tough, I have done 6 AC systems this month and I always pull the top for inspection even if I don't need to change the expansion valve, I always check the fans to be sure they are tight and the blower cages for damage,,and then give it all a good blowing out,,Nasty job I use a good ladder and tie it off to the tire to take the wobble out.
