4430 quad range question

I have a 4430 with a quad range that won't hold in 1st or second gear in any range. I can shift into one of those gears but it pops out and won't stay in. It feels like it goes past the gear and not holding in gear. It is a tractor that has been outside it's whole life so the cab mounts are probably deteriorated some. Are there any adjustments or does it need to go to the dealer? Thanks.

If it"s the cab mounts you will still be able to hook up in that gear, it just won"t be lined up in the stall when it does,,how about the other gears do they line up in the right place?,to me it sounds like the synchronize is bad ,,be careful when you send it to a dealer, the one around here has taken "Glee" in running up a parts/repair bill,,a sorta "I told you you should buy a new one" kinda deal,,this line of thought keeps my shop busy...

Cab mounts as you stated can deteriorate over time. Replacing cab mount doughnuts and adjusting shift linkages is a good place to start and a lot cheaper to do at home instead of dealer shop.

If it stays in 3rd and 4th gear it is not likely cab mounts or linkage adjustment going to fix problem as both control linkage and cab position/movement is relative to 1st and 2nd. Being it jumps out of 1st and 2nd in all ranges this point directly at a worn shifter and low synchronizer.

I should mention that going into 3rd gear it is a bit more difficult than it had been in the past but not much more effort is required.

Hi
$100 says it's not just your local dealer Disrespect intended "Mother Deere" are doing this round here in Canada also.
Heard a guy say they "fixed" his tractor, a big huge bill.
He got it home used it an hour, still not right. There answer was we fixed it something else is wrong!.
My theory is it's worn out and they couldn't fix it, but got all their shop hours, and parts used out of trying to diagnose and fix it!.
I keep hearing the same on green light combines, brought from outside our area going to the local dealer for a fairly simple thing , some have been coming out with $25.000 work orders, on 1 previous owner well maintained machines.
I think they are trying to force the hand that feeds them.
It's been a well known fact here that if you buy Deere you never go back to cheaper brands as you loose so much in trade and guys can't afford to take the hit.
Regards Robert

Got the 4430 gears figured out. Jacked the cab up and it worked fine. I'll replace cab mounts and go with it. Thanks for the replies.
