444 MH POWER STERRING

We have had this powering steering unit off TWO (2) times and it leaks all the time. Does anyone have
a good unit for sale or know someone who can fix this one?

I have wondered into the wrong shed from your post on Tractor Talk, I am Farmall guy, I know nothing about a MH. I was curious if the AGCO online parts actually had a catalog for these tractors and sure enough, see link. The ..Table of Contents.. button at the top left will always take you back to the main list. I was pretty sure and the diagrams confirmed that power steering is not original equipment on one of those, the steering boxes are at sections 152, 154 and 156. Are you sure it does not have a ..torque generator..? This would be a unit that steering shaft turns and then the hydraulics assist in generating additional twist on the shaft that goes into the stock manual steering box. Charlynn was a common brand used on many brands of tractors, see 2nd link. If you do have one of these on some models there is a port block that the hose fittings screw in it is about a 2 -3 inch piece that bolts on the unit with 2 bolts. It seals with two orings. It is possible that one of those is blown out. That would be an easy thing for you to check and repair by yourself. If it is leaking out of the shafts then yes it needs repaired. Oh also if you get a wild hair about buying the one in the example I posted I want to make sure you know it is a used unit.

There are several O-rings that can be replaced along with a seal at the bottom of the unit. Any hydraulic shop should be able to match up the O-rings using details from the parts book and measuring if needed.

Sorry, looks like per ..The Pennsylvanian.. I have some bad information. I learned I should go to sleep instead of post about a tractor I really know nothing about.
