4440 2 - 12 volt parallel

I am going to switch my 4440 to the 2 - 12 volt in parallel. I am going to have a long positive cable made to hook to both and then on to the starter. For the negatives do I need to do the same and run to one ground or can I just run a short ground from each to the frame on their respective sides? My cables are only a year old so if I did that I could use the two short cables for my new ground cables. I?d run the planter/sprayer monitors to just one side of the tractor. The positives would be hooked together but just the one ground off that battery. Any concerns or do I need to hook the negatives together also and run to one ground? Thanks Trevor

I did that conversion to our 4240- and I had each battery grounded where it was handy. I left the right battery ground where it originally was, and grounded the left battery behind or below the left battery box (it was a few years ago, so I forget precisely where). You are correct routing the positive cables as you wrote.

I want to add that I ran two separate positive cables, but it was tight getting both attached at the starter.

makes no diff. where each battery is grounded , as long as its a good ground. make sure the cables are heavy enough, especially the pos. if its connecting both batt's.
