4440 Bulkhead Connectors

On the wiring bulkhead (upper right side firewall), do the outdoor wires just pull straight out to disconnect or do you first need to loosen the bolt thats in the center of the bulkhead and take it apart first? Im having trouble getting a wire disconnected and dont know if its just frozen from corrosion or Im supposed to do something else do get it out. I dont want to yank on it too hard and break the plastic if thats not how theyre supposed to come out.

Yes, definitely loosen the bolt to remove the connector. Last summer my A/C quit working, and I traced it down to that connector. went to remove it and noticed the bolt was already loose. On a whim I decided to tighten it instead of removing it. A/C started working immediately and has ever since.

Clever disguise, Dale.

Also, the individual terminals are held in by a locking tab that must be released to allow them to be withdrawn from the connector body.

Below is a photo of a female connector that shows the retaining clip that requires depression to release in order to remove connector from plastic bulkhead.
