4440 stuck tie rod

I’m working on moving the wheels out from 30” to 38” on a 4440. I’m down to the last front wheel, left side tie rod. It’s stuck all the way in. So far I’ve tried heat, banging and the block of wood between the frame and steering arm trick. Nothing works so far. The right side came apart easy. Any other tricks?

Type Part number 102253 into the search bar here on this website. Spend the 100 bucks knock it out and be done she’s been abused enough with the torch and hammer. Your body will thank you as well.

How hot did you heat it(mildly or red)? I suggest after heating red hot & allowing it cool to place hammer on one side & hit with hammer on the opposite side.

Haven’t heated it red yet. Was going to try that this morning. My only concern was heat damage to the tie rod end. But I’ll cover that with a wet towel before I start. Thanks for your suggestions.

So far I've had it glowing red twice then beat with hammer and another hammer on the backside after it cooled. Still can't get it to budge. What's next? I'm thinking take it off, put in vice, heat glowing red and try turning with pipe wrench?

If it won't move in and out I highly doubt you will get it to twist with a pipe wrench. If you're determined to save what you have you will likely have to split the tube with a cutoff wheel and weld it back together.

I got it. Put in vise, got whole tube red and twisted with pipe wrench while pulling out at same time. Wasn’t easy, but will likely never need to do it again.

I have moved them by by blocking the arm on the spindle against the frame with a bar or pipe and using the power steering to put pressure against the tie rod.

I tried that yesterday. Didn’t work. Had to do it the hard way.

I got it. Put in vise, got whole tube red and twisted with pipe wrench while pulling out at same time. Wasn’t easy, but will likely never need to do it again.

put some grease in there for just in case, after a good cleaning.

Myself I think I'd use never seize on the tubes but grease would be better than rust.
