I got really tired of hilling by hand 150' of garden spuds, and I wasn't getting the hilling done at least 3 times.(sun burned potatoes and discolored) Soooo, got it done and it works great, saves my back, fun too. And I like putting another of my "446"s back to work, and guess what, it will stay hooked to the hiller till I put her to bed.

Dan, I think that is a bit big to work in my 4'x12' raised bed garden boxes. HeHe.
Years back, I built a tool bar for dad's 150 GT and mounted disc hiller blades off a ??DC cultivator on it. Dad and both of his bros. used it for years. I still have the 150 and the hitch. Don't know what happened to the disc hiller att.that I made. The 150 straddled the potato rows, so underneith clearance was limited, but it got the job done.

I have been using a 4 row Lilliston roiling cultivator. I have to add 100# weight to front of the 300, but still easy to turn the steering wheel when it is up.

Yes, they were quite popular around here at one time, in fact I had the Lilliston franchise at one time, sold lots of planters (old Ford planter) and some rolling cultivators too. I'm actually going to look for a rolling cultivator soon as I need to get bigger equipment, if I plan on having more potatoes!

I hook on to the 4 row planter and remove the boxes and make a 4 row path or marks and come back and plant potato's in the rows. The Lilliston kinda fell out of favor as notill took over and they don't dig out big weeds.

Interesting how you plant them. Do you hand plant, or have a potato planter?

Yes, farmers are always looking for new ideas, and equipment does as you say fall out of favor, I do know the Lilliston planter had spacing flaws, and believe me, when you sell 40 some 6 & 8 row planters, you got calls. We did get it settled down with the help of the company.

How many rows of potatoes do you plant? Varieties?

I have a shovel that I push in to the ground lift up and drop in the seed potato, not too deep and not too shallow.
