4490 clutch modulator removal

Any advice on removing this? I've been advised to check the modulator assembly for broken spring or other defect. Issue is abrupt engagement/disengagement with very little clutch peddle travel, no feathering at all. Do I need to remove the entire "power shift control valve assembly" to do this or am I able to remove the plug and remove with the control valve assembly right as its mounted on the transmission . Or do I need to disconnect the clutch control linkage from the spool and puch the entire spool and modulator assembly out of valve body? Can I R and R this assembly and parts with the valve body right where it is mounted? Hoping this makes sense, I've been told its fairly simple fix, but few other details Any advise or pictures would be appreciated. Thank You in advance, attached picture, assembly need to inspect #25-33.

It?s been awhile but on the 4wd I think you can remove plug #25 which will hold the modulator springs for you to inspect. It is located on the rear of the valve and the valve can remain because all you need is to be able to remove the plug. I can?t think of any reason you would want to remove the spool. If the modulator springs look ok you might have a serious leak in the powershift.

As long as there is nothing in the way you should be able to pull the spool in place.
