450 C tracks

What size tracks and pads are needed for a 450C. Serial number 289711 T. Any advice on where to find a good used set?

I don't really understand what you are asking by what tracks fit a 450C. Pretty much JD 450 tracks are JD 450 tracks, occasionally track from another brand might be close enough in pitch, rail height, width, etc. to fit but finding which ones (if any) will fit could be a project. There may be some changes in pitch from the earlier 450 models to the later 450 models which may rule some of the later ones out. Finding a good used set of tracks and pads will be a challenge, most are run to the end of their life before replacement.

If you don't know about on line access to the John Deere parts books search JDParts:Homepage . Once there you will see a box where you enter your model number and get access to the parts book where you can see the track options.

By the parts book 36 links is common, but count the links in your existing chains. I'm not sure but it might have more if a long track version was available.

16" wide, open center, single grouser shoes were common on dozers, again measure your existing shoe width as there were width and type options.

Various vendors sell aftermarket tracks and shoes, as well as John Deere. The vendors will tell you what they have for options that will fit. You will need to decide on SALT (sealed and lubricated track) or plain track chain. You should plan on resealing track adjusters, replacing sprockets, idlers and rollers as well, if they are not up to spec, or track life will be shortened.

The tracks that fit the 450C also fit from the 450 to the 555B,the dozer has a 36 link track chain,the loader 37,the track pitch is 6.29 inches, link height is 90MM, the bushing OD is 51MM, there are 5 single flange rollers on each side with one carrier roller,the shoes comes in 14", 16", 18" and 24",the shoe bolt size is 1/2",the info comes from the Draco catalogue,try places like machinerytrader.com under parts and dismantled machines,there are some new sets on ebay at the link below,go down the page and you will find them.
