450 T handle

I could use some more help. I would like to tighten up my T handle control on the blade of my 450c j0hn deere. most of the parts are obsolete so I am looking for used parts. Is there a good salvage yard that I can get the whole T handle assy from. Randy

I won't say you can't find a better one, but my thought is you will be very lucky to find one in any better condition than yours. Common practice is to build up worn holes and re-bore, replace pins, etc. Some people have made, or had a machine shop make, some of the parts for theirs.

I expect it has worn out and is far from perfect now, so even if not exactly prefect it will most likely be improved when you finish. Take some measurements of where you would estimate the center of each hole to be and make sketches (maybe take some pictures too) before welding/brazing holes in. That info will give you a location to re-drill the holes. You should be able to figure out pin sizes from the old ones.

I've got a brand new [NOS] tee handle that's been on the shelf for about 35 years now.. I don't have any of the cast "knuckles" or pins though. Some of the more worn pieces, I've brazed up and redrilled OEM size.

Roy do you mean just the T handle or some of the other linkage to. I think I will weld up what I can. my T handle it self is fine its every thing below that is worn. thanks for your reply. I welded Prentice loaders for 39 years in a previous life that was 14 years ago and have not welded much after I left. Randy

When I did my loader handles I drilled the holes out oversize and used bronze bushings that I got from McMaster Carr. When they get loose again I just replace the bushings, just a thought.
