It was a power shift one of 1663 and according to a fellow I know that was there to buy it and He said it was repainted.Looking at picture if not, the motor[4620] and frame rails were.It
looks nice.We get several nice tractors and I prefer they were never touched but most have had something at least touched up.

Does anyone know if the weight starter brackets on a 4520 are the same as a 4020? Also, is the starter bracket for single stack weights the same as the starter for double stack weights?

Did Deere introduce intercoolers on the 4520, or was introduced on the 4620 and it was included as part of the 4620 update for 4520's?

The double stack weight is the same. The brackets or side rails are the same from 2520 to 4620.The 5020 and 6030 required special side rails to allow for wider frame and had an obvious bend toward the front. The front weight weighs around 200#and with rails bring around $300.

This tractor sold for $20250 as I was there to watch, the roll gard had some type of rubber seals around them where they went through the fenders and I thought the roll gard frame looked like it was unfinished metal in the upright frame part. I wondered if it was off a roll gard cab tractor that had the frame covered inside the cab. The tractor's destination was Brooklyn ,IA. Owner was in his seventies and had owned it 8 years and said it would pull 7 bottom plow and just blow out more smoke ,neber pulled down over clay knobs.

There were some 4520's with intercoolers. I think it was the last few hundred that had them before they switched to 4620's. I think I've got the serial numbers at home where they started putting intercoolers on them. I'll see if I can find them. I had one exactly like the one pictured above. Sure do wish I had it back.

(quoted from post at 23:43:16 01/17/13) The double stack weight is the same. The brackets or side rails are the same from 2520 to 4620.The 5020 and 6030 required special side rails to allow for wider frame and had an obvious bend toward the front. The front weight weighs around 200#and with rails bring around $300.

On top of what Larry said, the frame rails will fit all the way to the 30 series for sure (4030. 4230, 4430, 4630). I have one on my 4430 and have pictures of ones on a 4230 and 4630. I see no reason why they wouldn't go all the way up to the 55 series.

Also, The frame rails from an FM cultivator will work to mount the double stack weight. I'm pretty bummed today as I missed a pair of 12 row FM cultivators that found their way to the scrap yard. I'da sure paid the $400 he got for Iron price just to have the rear mulchers and spare frame rails, not to mention the mountain of other spare parts... I really need a pair of alignment studs.

A little history on the 4520's.When new there was a problem with the air cleaner that would sometimes cause the air filter to catch on fire and fill the engine with ashes. The last 4520's had the intercooler and when the aircleaner ruined the engine Deere supplied you with the newer engine if under warrenty or sold you the newer engine at cost to make good on the problem. The original air cleaner had two canister type elements and the replacements were more like the style used on older trucks that sat on top the carb. but was two seperate filters one inside the other.Biggest drawback is only 1000 pto.Someone mentioned the rubber around where the roll guard came thru the fenders, this is original. The pics show a sharp tractor but that price will buy a sharp 4630 with a cab or even a 4440.

i guess when i heard twentytwo-fifty i assumed 22,050 but 20,250 would make sence. either way that is a good coin for that tractor i thought.
