4560 vs. 4760

Beside the obvious, what is the difference between a 4560 and 4760? Same frame? Same engine cooling? Same reliability? etc.

The 4760 has a lot heavier final drives and axle housings and the trans if stronger to.
There might be some other things beefed up on it but they dont come to mind right now. The 60 series were know to crack out the top of the block--I think, maybe someone else can help me here. Deere raised the top ring up higher on the piston so it would start better. I have had seasoned Deere mechanics tell me that the only good 60 series was an overhauled one. Then the old style pistons were put back in. I could be wrong on this. I hope someone else chimes in here to correct me.

I was curious about that too, so I looked up the parts, seems the axle houseings and the axles are the same except for the 4960, every thing else is the same ececept the injection pump and injectors,,hope they didn't cost much more

Own them both. The difference is the intercooler on the 4760 and amount of fuel delivered by the injection pump. The 49's turbo was slightly different but they all sub out to the same part no. now. Not uncommon for the 55 series engines to go over 10k hours. The so called engine problem was from the use of harder sleeves and some engines were not seating the rings. Deere had a program to overhaul those at one time. The 45 and 47 offered the quad range trans in 2wd and powershift trans in both the 2wd and mfwd. 49 was powershift only.

The 60 series have to be one of the most reliable trouble free tractors ever built by Deere. They are the end result and refinement of the 4010, introduced over 30 years earlier.

Horespower is basically the only difference. Not sure the pump and injectors aren't the same. Overall weight is the same if the two tractors are weighted the same (same number of weights).
