4600 Injector pump timing

So I bought a new injector pump for my Ford 4600. Unfortunately I didn't know about timing before I yanked out the old one. Can anyone tell me what I have to do to make sure the timing is OK? I know there is a notch and key that have to be aligned when I put the pump in. Is that it? Thanks.

A 4600 is about as easy as it gets. Line up the dowel in the gear with the groove in the hub, and line up the zero mark on the plate with the
mark on the pump.

That's the part I don't know about. I've never seen either of these marks but it could be just dirt. Thanks.

You should clean the area thoroughly before you remove parts like the injection pump. Less likely to get old dirt inside the engine that way.
