4600 removing injector pump

Can the fuel injector pump be removed without removing anything else, or must I remove the starter first?

It should clear the starter, but is close. Make a note where the flange mark is now on timing case, remove the three front gear bolts under the cover. Remove lines and rear hardware then pump will pull back/off. O ring deals the front of pump housing, and a gear pin enters the drive hub slot for correct timing.

Serves me right for jumping ahead. I removed the starter, but it still won't come out. I removed all the lines, and the 3 bolts, but it only comes out 3/4 of an inch or so and something stops it. The tractor has a loader on it which makes it doubly hard to work on, plus me not really knowing what I'm doing. I didn't take note of anything regarding timing. Am I screwed?

Drain coolant, remove lower radiator hose, remove 5 bolts holding cover on,remove 3 bolts holding pump drive gear on pump. Starter does not have to be removed .

I think I see it now. I wasn't sure what you guys were talking about when you said the cover. I thought the pump would just slip out of the cover.

Some pumps will slide out IF they have a spline drive like some Perkins. Yours has three gear bolts coming through the drive gear into the pump hub, under the front round cover, behind the lower radiator hose.
